Spring was definitely in the air and summer was on its way but in the Devon seaside resort of Exmouth tragedy has struck. A body has been found in the sea and what at first was thought to be a dreadful accident soon took a different and more sinister turn when the post mortem revealed that there were one or two small discrepancies which required further investigation.
A regular swimmer, Donald Worthing could be seen early each day taking his usual dip in the sea. All through the year, whatever the weather, Mr Worthing made his way to the beach for an invigorating swim.
However, on that fateful day in May, Annette Worthing, his wife became alarmed when he didn’t return home, and she contacted the police. After a search by the RNLI and the Coastguard, Mr Worthing’s body was found in the sea, apparently drowned.
An investigation ensued across the road from the beach in the Exmouth Pavilion Theatre where key family and friends of the deceased were brought together. The Investigator, with the help of guests at the Theatre was determined to get to the truth before the evening was over.
